The calculation using the linear and non-linear finite element method (FEM) involves a high degree of complexity in the numerical simulation. It requires specific know-how in the application and the exact knowledge of the materials used. The aim, especially with suspension elements (rubber-metal elements), is the accurate prediction of the physical properties of the components and the calculation of the expected service life for the planned operation. Of course, all standard strength tests for rail vehicle components made of metallic materials are also carried out.
